Academics

Winter-Term Academy

Our Winter Term Program has been in operation since 1993, delivering on our mission of producing well rounded student-athletes. The academic program is delivered through two unique pathways depending on the student athlete's age. Both programs are delivered in a small classroom environment that cultivates close connections between students and faculty.

Middle School:
Students in MMA's Winter Term Middle School program continue in the same ‘core’ subject areas consistent with their present academic path at their sending school, but follow MMA’s existing curriculum. This option is structured to enable students to access all the courses in our enriched Middle School curriculum, and our years of experience working with all types of sending schools shows that this model is very effective for middle school students. Each student's personal demands are met through attention to individual capabilities, and our supportive, small classroom learning environment creates space for teachers to meet each student's distinct needs.

High School:
Students in MMA's High School Winter Term program follow their sending school's curriculum during their time with us. Our teachers communicate with sending school teachers to collect course information, and then MMA teachers deliver content, assign work, enrich lessons, and assess students' progress during the Winter Term. Where appropriate, students are grouped by content and level to encourage discussion and engagement. This tailored learning experience recognizes that, in high school, our students require a seamless academic experience that gives them access to a broad range of advanced courses. This approach allows MMA Winter Term students to have the best of both worlds: a small school ski academy experience, with an extensive catalog of advanced courses.
