About

History

Incorporated as Mt. Mansfield Ski Club in January 1934, we are one of the oldest ski racing organizations in America.
Today, the Mt. Mansfield Academy is committed to honoring these roots while building its future as a leading alpine ski racing program. In the early decades of the sport, the Ski Club brought many of the world’s best alpine racers to Stowe to compete on its famed terrain. The Club was the training ground of Billy Kidd, the first American to medal in Olympic alpine skiing with his silver in the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. For many years, Mt. Mansfield programs have played a key role in developing U.S. Ski Team and Olympic athletes.
